Not too many years ago, one of the Universal Laws - namely The Law of Attraction - became very popular. I remember coming across it myself back in my 20’s and being instantly attracted to its message. (No pun intended.) I mean, who wouldn’t be attracted to a Law that tells you that all you have to do is to tell the Universe what you want, be as specific as you can and ALAKAZAM, it’s yours!
It became a whole lot less attractive however when the mountain of cash I'd asked for (a million pounds sterling) never materialised. Or the car (Lamborghini). Or the house (mansion).
So what has this got to do with Allowing - our theme for January and February? Quite a lot, as it happens. Because one of the main reasons the Law of Attraction didn’t work for me was because I didn’t understand it fully. And the piece I didn’t understand was the piece about Allowing.
Asking the Universe for something is one thing.
Asking the Universe for something then letting it go and allowing Spirit to give it to you in the manner in which is best for you, and for the highest good of all, is quite another.
In the first instance we’re telling the Universe what we want. Yes I am blushing when I think of how often I did exactly that. Me, a mere mortal telling the omnipotent, all-knowing, all-wise Universe what’s best for me. It’s a bit like me going to a brain surgeon right now and telling her how to operate on her next patient. Except a little more foolish and a lot more arrogant!
In the second instance I’m asking the Universe to show me what I need to know, or learn, or have, in order to be of service to all. I’m saying Show me, Guide me, Lead me. And I’m also trusting that Spirit knows exactly what I need for the path I’m on. Far more than I could ever know. (Remember the image I posted last month about Trust and Allowing being the same thing?)
Most importantly, I'm getting out of my own way and allowing what is to be, to be.
Makes the Law of Attraction a lot more attractive, right?
