If you watched my first video on December's theme of Freedom (if not, you can find it here on my Facebook page), you’ll remember that I posed a question for you to ponder. Did you get an answer? If so, I’ll hazard a guess that it was something to do with taking something personally. Maybe someone’s else’s opinion of who you are, or what you do? A passing comment on how you dress, or how you should be behaving?
We don’t feel free when we take things personally. In fact, we usually end up feeling quite the opposite. Whenever we depend on someone or something external, our sense of freedom is in jeopardy. And that's why we can often end up feeling stuck despite living in a free country.
Would you like to feel free?
True freedom is an inside job and it begins with the A word – Acceptance. Acceptance of who we are, where we stand and of the situation we find ourselves in. (It's pretty impossible to change something we don't accept is happening!) Once we accept that we've arrived at this point in our lives, the next step is about being willing to see the bigger picture behind other people’s opinions, so that we can understand how to move forward. And feel free!
If you take a look back at my videos from October - when our theme was Expansion - you’ll find some simple steps you can take to help you move from taking things personally to seeing the opportunity that’s being offered. And if you review November’s theme of Growth, you’ll see how you can keep moving forward. And guess where both themes will lead you? Yup! To Freedom.
I love it when a plan comes together!
